Funding schemesThe following AusAID funding programs provide further opportunities for involvement in Australia's aid program. Public Sector Linkages Program (PSLP)The Public Sector Linkages Program provides funding for public sector bodies and public universities to support development activities in selected partner countries. PSLP incorporates the former Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Support Program. Pacific Public Sector Linkages Program (Pacific PSLP)The Pacific Public Sector Linkages Program (Pacific PSLP) provides funding on a competitive basis for Australian federal, state and territory government departments and agencies to support development activities in Pacific countries, Papua New Guinea and with Pacific regional organisations. Details on the Pacific Public Sector Linkages Program Australian Development Research AwardsThe Australian Development Research Awards are designed to attract quality research that informs policy development and increases the general stock of knowledge around development issues. Australian Leadership Awards—FellowshipsFellowships grants are available for short-term study, research, and professional attachment programs in Australia delivered by Australian organisations. Fellowships target current and emerging leaders from the Asia-Pacific region and foster existing linkages between community, civil society, private sector, research, academia and Australian government agencies. Applications are sought and assessed on a competitive basis from Australian organisations. Community-based Climate Change Action GrantsIn recognition of the important role that non-government organisations (NGOs) play in developing and implementing community-based climate change responses, the Australian Government is committing up to $30 million over two years to Community-based Climate Change Action Grants to support adaptation and mitigation activities in developing countries. Details on the Community-based Climate Change Action Grants Community-based adaptation activity grants—International Climate Change Adaptation InitiativeThe Australian Government called for applications for Australian and international non-government organisations (NGOs) to work with local organisations to scale up current successful community–based adaptation activities or to build an adaptation component onto existing community–based activities in the Pacific region and East Timor. The call for applications closed on 26 February 2010. Generic feedback from the selection process Enterprise Challenge Fund for the Pacific and South-East Asia (ECF)The ECF aims to reduce poverty by encouraging private sector led pro-poor growth. Through open competition, up to 50 per cent of project costs will be awarded to private sector firms to undertake projects in selected countries in the Pacific and South-East Asia. The scheme operates in 9 countries (Fiji, Papua New Guinea, selected provinces of Indonesia, southern Philippines, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Cambodia, Laos and east Timor) and projects are currently underway. Human Rights Grants SchemeThis initiative provides small grants to in-country organisations (primarily non-government) for activities aimed at promoting and protecting human rights in a direct and tangible way. Details on the Human Rights Grants Scheme International Seminar Support Scheme (ISSS)AusAID administers the ISSS program. The program provides financial support for selected participants to attend development-oriented international seminars in Australia and overseas.
